Who We Are

Esquire Custom Cakes was created by Janelle Giesing initially to provide family and friends with Custom Cakes for every occasion. In 2016 Janelle made her first cake for her future husband’s graduation ceremony from the Connecticut Fire Academy. While Janelle’s first cake was practically inedible (taking the fire theme a bit too far, the cake may have been a bit scorched), she realized she enjoyed designing and creating custom cakes and slowly taught herself how to do so.

Several years and hundreds of cakes later, Janelle created this website to chronicle her baking journey and show others how she makes her cake designs—and she is happy to report that her cakes have become significantly more edible since that first fire-themed cake.

By day, Janelle is a practicing attorney; by night, a self-taught baker. She shares her home with her husband and their golden retriever, Toby, who is an essential baking team member.
